Manuel Carreiras is an Ikerbasque research professor, visitant professor at the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU), and honorary professor at the University College of London. Currently, he holds the scientific director position for Basque Center on Cognition, Brain, and Language. His research focuses on reading, bilingualism and second-language learning. He has published more than 200 papers in high-impact scientific journals in the field of cognitive neuroscience. His research has received funding from different research agencies. It is worth mentioning that he has coordinated the COEDUCA project from the CONSOLIDER-INGENIO2010 programme funded by the former Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation. This project encompassed more than 70 researchers. He is now principal investigation of an ERC Advanced Grant (European Research Council), titled BILITERACY.
He is editor in Frontiers in Language Sciences, and co-editor in Language and Cognitive Neuroscience.
